The Super Mario Bros. Movie Is Available for Preorder
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now available on digital platforms, and is coming out on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 13. If you’d rather see it in the theater, you can still buy tickets online too. Let's get to it.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now available on digital platforms. It has an MSRP of $29.99, but Amazon has it available at a light 5% discount. You can also rent it. If you buy it, though, you can watch it via Movies Anywhere on supported devices, which is pretty cool.
Critics seem a bit split on just how good this movie is, but it is a kids movie after all, and it's packed with references that are sure to sail over the heads of stodgy old critics. Our reviewer liked it a lot, giving it 8/10 in IGN's The Super Mario Bros. Movie review.
If you want some extra goodies to go along with your Mario Movie, you can pick up one of these retailer-exclusive editions. Best Buy has the 4K UHD version in a cool-looking steelbook case. If you don't need 4K, Walmart has a limited edition giftset that comes with a the movie on Blu-ray encased in a collectible tin in the shape of a super star. It also includes a display stand. Target has the Blu-ray version in an exclusive 3D lenticular package.
Want to head to the theater and watch the Mario Movie with a group of like-minded people while chomping delicious popcorn and sipping an oversized soda? You can grab a ticket online right now. For more, check out our how to watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
I hesitate to even include this, because it's not a good movie. But the new Mario movie has reignited interest in the 1993 film that was so bad it put Nintendo off making movies for 30 years. Anyway, the DVD of this stinker happens to be on sale for $3.74 at Amazon right now.
It's kind of wild that home copies of the 2023 Super Mario Bros. Movie were made available for preorder the day it released in theaters. Movie companies used to wait a while — and sometimes a very long time — before putting the home releases up for preorder. But between this and John Wick: Chapter 4's home release, that may be starting to change. In any case, it's probably a simple business decision: why wait to let people preorder when your movie is getting good buzz in the theater?
