How to Find the Can Opener

The Can Opener in Sons of the Forest is a nifty tool that will allow you to craft open your Canned Food into consumable Cat Food when combined in your inventory. While it may sound unappetizing to eat Cat Food, it can be life-saving when you can't get out to hunt and need food in a pinch. So, if you've gathered a healthy stack of canned goods, here is everything you need to know about finding the using the Can Opener in Sons of the Forest.

One of the locations you need to reach for a Can Opener is this snowy mountain cave marked by the GPS in the screenshot above. If you are lucky, you may have started your game nearby at the snowy spawn point, but if you aren't nearby you can use your GPS Tracker and the GPS Zoom button to navigate your way here.

Once you're close to this mountain cave entrance on your GPS Tracker, you will find 2 broken sleds on a frozen pond and 2 Red Tents nearby. The Can Opener is right next to the Red Tent that has a few green sacks and 2 yellow buckets next to it.

For a clearer view of this Can Opener location, use the map above and then compare your GPS Tracker position to guide you there. Zooming in and out on your GPS Tracker as needed will also be helpful when making your way to this Can Opener position.

Approach the Tent that has the green sacks and you'll find the Can Opener in this exact location, yours for the taking.

Also, while you're here, you can find some extra resources such as Rope, Tarp, Meds, Cash, and Vodka Bottles nearby. You can also grab 1 Canned Food near the broken sleds and then explore the nearby cave where you can break open 3 Wood Crates for a chance to get more Canned Food.

Sometimes when starting a new game, you will start here, and if this happens (or you find this place on your way to the Can Opener) you can follow the narrow stream uphill toward the mountain and it will lead directly to the cave and tents you need to reach.

Here is a Map with all Can Opener locations marked. There is one found near an icy cave at the snowy mountain ( shown in the section above ), one found up north on the coastline of the sandy beach cove, and one found at an abandoned campsite to the west. Use your GPS Tracker to head for the location closest to your position.

If you're near the northern coastline, head for the GPS Tracker location in the screenshot above to find the northmost Can Opener, not far from the Rebreather cave, on some rocks near the water, along with some Rope, Duct Tape, Energy Drinks, and Oyster.

If you're closer to the westmost Can Opener location, head for the GPS Tracker location marked in the screenshot above and look for an abandoned camp with 2 Red Tents, a corpse holding a collectible note, dismembered bodies on pikes, and supply crates, next to a small waterfall. Look near the frying pan in the center of the campsite to find the Can Opener.

Now that you've got your Can Opener, you may want to open some Canned Food to manage your hunger.

First, open your inventory and select Combine on your Can Opener, then select Combine on your Canned Food. When both Can Opener and Canned Food are in the crafting area, you will see the gear ready to combine the 2 crafting ingredients.

Press Combine on the Gear icon and you'll see a neat animation of the can being opened by the Can Opener and consumable Cat Food sloshing out the can. The Cat Food goes into your inventory and you can eat it when you need to manage your hunger.
